Zoals je in de allereerste brainstorm post kon lezen gingen we al snel uit van 1 onderwerp om snel met een eerste concept te komen. Het leek ons echter een goed idee om onze horizon nog even te verbreden. Deze ‘desk research’ bestaat vooral uit een aantal bronnen die gelezen zijn en waar inspiratie is uitgehaald. Het bestaat dus uit een aantal stukken tekst waarover we uiteindelijk een goed gesprek hebben gevoerd. Voornamelijk was dit om te bepalen of we bij ons huidige onderwerp willen blijven of niet. Ook staan er een aantal notities bij die bij ons gesprek naar boven zijn gekomen. Het nieuwe idee is om een game te maken waarin we een controversieel onderwerp aantonen.
Smart Health
We are currently attached to (literally and figuratively) multiple technologies that monitor our behaviors. The fitness tracking craze has led to the development of dozens of bracelets and clip-on devices that monitor steps taken, activity levels, heart rate, etc., not to mention the advent of organic electronics that can be layered, printed, painted, or grown on human skin. Google is teaming up with Novartis to create a contact lens that monitors blood sugar levels in diabetics and sends the information to healthcare providers. Combine that with Google Glass and the ability to search the Internet for people while you look straight at them and you see that we’re already encountering social issues that need to be addressed. The new wave of wearable technology will allow users to photograph or record everything they see. It could even allow parents to view what their children are seeing in real time. Employers are experimenting with devices that track (volunteer) employees’ movements, tone of voice, and even posture. For now, only the aggregate data is being collected and analyzed to help employers understand the average workday and how employees relate to each other. But could an employer require their workers to wear devices that monitor how they speak, what they eat, when they take a break, how stressed they get during a task, and then punish or reward them for good or bad data? Wearables have the potential to educate us, protect our health, as well as violate our privacy in any number of ways.
- Dit zouden we toe kunnen passen in ons concept, we willen namelijk controversie creëren en op een Black Mirror achtige manier een perspectief op de toekomst bieden. De game zou dus een fitness app kunnen zijn waarin we aantonen hoe het eruit zal zien als we op ‘deze manier’ door gaan.
Face Tracking Technology
Late last year the FBI announced the development of new facial recognition software that could be used to help law enforcement agencies solve crimes more quickly and efficiently. The technology is reportedly so efficient that it can detect eye color, voice, stride and more. The fear regarding this technology is that it will be used in CCTV units in public sectors around the country, leading to the constant surveillance of innocent civilians.
- Je zou hier kunnen denken aan een samenleving waarin technologie in de telefoon of andere wearables een rol gaan spelen in de privacy. Gegevens worden doorgespeeld naar hogere instanties waar men in de gaten word gehouden op basis van criminaliteit. We zouden een spel kunnen maken waarin je bijvoorbeeld zelf een agent speelt die hiermee te maken krijgt.

- Dit is een bron waarin vele controversiële berichten omtrent politie besproken worden. Bijvoorbeeld dat ze te snel op geweld ingrijpen. Dit zouden we kunnen combineren met het voorgaande idee.

- Misschien zelfs met terrorisme te combineren in verband met racisme, dit is natuurlijk in deze tijd een groot onderwerp. Wel is dit een moeilijk onderwerp, je kunt wel snel voor discussie zorgen, maar je kunt ook snel mensen pijn doen of té ver gaan.
Everything On-Demand
Thanks to brands like Uber (and the resulting madness of startups built on the premise of being the “Uber of ____”), people are getting used to having everything on demand via phone apps. In 2017, I expect this to see this develop even further. We have thousands of apps available to us to get rides, food deliveries, and even a place to stay for the night, but soon we’ll see this evolve into even stranger territory.
Anyone in the tech industry knows that making predictions about the course of technology’s future, even a year out, is an exercise in futility. Surprises can come from a number of different directions, and announced developments rarely release as they’re intended.
First, there are the consumers who are not concerned with owning products for themselves and are more likely to subscribe to on-demand services, such as Spotify and Netflix in B2C and Cargomatic in B2B. Rather than purchasing the physical goods, customers choose to lease the goods as and when they are needed. Second, there are consumers who expect the products they want to purchase to be readily available, which is demonstrated by the increased popularity of auto-refill services.
- Alles kunnen we tegenwoordig op ‘demand’ verkrijgen. We zouden een beeld van de toekomst kunnen schetsen waarin echt werkelijk alles op demand is. Bijvoorbeeld een game waarin alles te bestellen valt, wat je maar wilt, je kunt het zo krijgen. Maar op een gegeven moment raakt het misschien op, omdat iedereen alles maar wilt. Je ziet in de bovenstaande bronnen dat dit al een grote beweging is die steeds groter aan het worden is. Een goed punt om aan te snijden wellicht.
Conclusie
We hebben alle ideeën nog een keer besproken en bekeken en we zijn er over uit dat we toch verder gaan met de ‘Smart Health’ branche. We vinden dat deze beweging ons het beste ligt en dat we hiermee de meeste vrijheid hebben om door te kunnen brainstormen. In ieder geval hebben we het breder bekeken, en kunnen we nu echt zeker zijn van ons gekozen onderwerp!
